What is a Repeater, and What Does It Do?
In DMX or PWM-based control systems, signals are transmitted sequentially from device to device. However, in this chain structure, the signal weakens as the distance increases. Repeater devices receive this weakening signal, boost it, and transmit it robustly to other control devices. Thus, synchronized and uninterrupted lighting becomes possible.
Why is it Necessary in Facade Animations?
In facade lighting projects, light sources are numerous and scattered. This requires DMX signals to travel over long distances. Repeater systems are essentially the backbone of the system at this point: they carry, amplify the signal, and ensure that each LED unit lights up at the right time with the correct color.
What Happens If There Is No Repeater?
However, it is necessary to balance not only energy efficiency but also lighting comfort. Systems that do not strain the eyes, prevent glare, and dim or brighten according to need create sustainable and user-friendly urban environments.At points where the signal weakens, commands are transmitted incompletely. What Should Be Considered When Choosing a Repeater?
If the repeater system is to be used outdoors, it should have a high protection class such as IP65. Technical features such as supported channel capacity, compatibility with DMX or PWM, and ease of installation should also be considered. Choosing the right repeater device suitable for each project directly affects the efficiency of the system.
